Beachcomber Cottage #4 at Explore Acadia Cottages

I can’t say enough good things about Explore Acadia Cottages! They are super cute with a modern design but still rustic and much more fun than staying in a boring, run-of-the-mill hotel or AirBnB. Our cottage was extremely clean, very well-stocked with basics, and had fun and tasteful decor. It’s the perfect size for 1 or 2 people or even a family with 1 or 2 children. It even has a washer and dryer! The cottage also comes stocked with lots of helpful information about local attractions, hiking, and sightseeing around the area. The location is excellent, especially if you’re in town to enjoy Acadia NP. It’s close enough to Bar Harbor to be accessible to essentials (e.g., restaurants, bars, touristy shops), but far enough away to be quiet and peaceful. It’s also fairly close to Ellsworth, which I would recommend people check out for meals (especially dinner and weekend brunch), as Bar Harbor gets very crowded, has paid parking, and waitlists at the restaurants. You don’t have any of those issues with the places in Ellsworth. :) The area where the cottages are located was safe and easy to get to. There were no issues with noise, creepy neighbors, critters, or anything of that sort. The beds are comfortable and the space is the perfect size, especially if you’re going to be gone a bulk of the day and are largely using it as a landing spot for the late afternoons and evenings. Finally, the price is excellent considering what a wonderful property it is and all that you’re getting. I was seeking a place that was rustic and woodsy with Maine personality but not tacky or outdated, and this met the mark perfectly. Sara (the property manager) is professional, friendly, very communicative, and quick to respond to any questions. I believe she resides on the property, making it easy to access her if needed (we didn’t need to—everything was perfect). I highly recommend this property and will absolutely book here again when I return in 2027 or 2028 (and beyond)!

My family of 4 absolutely love this cottage. This is our second year coming to Acadia and staying in the cottage. Pros- washer/dryer, dishwasher, 3 beds (twin/double bunk, queen), outdoor grill, plenty of towels, lots of board games, quiet, beautiful front porch view, campfire, picnic tables….. Cons- our only complaint would be the shower is a little small, might be a problem for larger people. And there is only one a/c / heat unit in the main area. If you close the bedrooms doors at night, it gets a little hot. We will be back next summer!!

We loved every bit of our stay. The accommodations are well-suited for whatever you like. We loved the hike thru the woods down to Hadley's Point. Explore Acadia Cottages is a great location, just out of the craziness of Bar Harbor, but within reach of restaurants, mini golf, and Acadia National Park. The fire pit made for fun with s'mores a couple of the nights. Thank you, again!
